Information and Background about the Contest:
Place:
Dhesheh camp, Rafah Camp, Aida Camp
Time:
October 1, 2002 through October 30th 2002,
Age group eligible to pariticpate:
Boys and girls from the age of 6 till the age of 14.
Prize: $300 dollars for every camp:
1st place winner: $100.
2nd place winner: $50.
Two 3rd place winners: $25 each.


Activity required:
The children who wish to participate must enter a one page essay and a drawing on a white sheet of paper to the individuals assigned below as coordinators. The drawing can be in black and white or colored and must include a scence from the child's every day life in the camp or in his/her town or village.

The essay must be at least seventy five words and not more than 100 words in either Arabic or English and the topic is to be entitled: "Why I love Palestine." The essay should not be proof read or edited by an adult and MUST have all the original writing of the child including grammatical and spelling errors.


Administrators:
Ms. Shirabe and Wafa Khatib from Ibdaa will coordinate to pick up and deliver the essays and the drawings to Mr. George Rishmawi. Dr. Elfarra will arrange for some one from her staff to announce and coordinate the contest in the Rafah camp and to collect the drawing and the essays and send them to Mr. Rishmawi. Dr. Abu Srour will coordiante to annoucne the contest and the collection of essays and drawings in the Aida camp.


Riad Hamad will coordinate the assignment of four judges in Austin to judge the drawing and the essays and determine the winners.

The winners will be announced on the website and the awards will be sent through Mr. Rishmawi to the winners. Also, Riad Hamad will coordinate with other volunteers to auction the art work of the students on the campuses, churches and mosques in the United States to raise money for the children and ALL the money collected will be sent to the children whose art work sold. Mr. Rishmawi will collect and mail all the original work sent to him by Ms. Shirabe, Ms. Khatib, Dr. Elfarra and Dr. Abu Srour in the first shipment available.

Riad Hamad will ensure the payment of the money to the children and $100 each of the camps to buy paper, pencils and coloring pens in order to allow EVERY child who wants to participate to do so.

Impotant Notice:
EVERY drawing and essay must have the child's name, age and contact address or contact number.
