The colors represent the Palestinian
flag: red, green, black and white. The appliquéd
shapes are derived from traditional Palestinian
embroidery designs. The shape of the image represents
the yoke of a woman's dress. The "Gown of
Patience" speaks to the outer and inner beauty
of the Palestinian women; reflected in their strength
of character and ability to persevere and thrive
in the face of unrelenting persecution, hardships
and sorrow.
